BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES
October 12th, 2008So the other day I was on msn at work and my boy was working on his final project for school and asked me for some ideas. He was trying to conceptualize a series of T-shirts that illustrated how much better 90’s music (and the 90’s in general) is, compared to what’s going on right now.
He mentioned that we have iPods but in the 90’s kids either had to go out and buy CD’s or sit around all day waiting for a song to play on the radio so they could record it. He said we were basically spoiled, I agreed wholeheartedly, and then suggested another angle that would lend itself to t-shirt design: artists from previous decades didn’t necessarily need to be good-looking to make it. Back then it was more about the music—raw talent alone could get you signed. I told him to make some shirts with some talented, ugly-motherf*ckers on them, and he thanked me for the idea.

Looks like I’m not the only one that noticed this trend in music. Enter: ‘Before The Music Dies’ …
This documentary is an in-depth look into the topic my friend and I touched upon in our conversation (see ^above) and is a must-see for any music lover. I just found it today thanks to Niña Mendoza’s blog… thanks Niña!
