I’m a bit late on this and I hear the good folks behind ICBC’s Bait Car program re-applied their stencil after this happened, but this is cool to see nonetheless. [Update: As of March 1st the Bait Car stencil is still gone and in its place is a stencil of 2 small black hearts] Although I can’t confirm with complete certainty that The Dark did this, I’m 95% sure.
To summarize, basically there’s a parking lot near Stadium station where they put this Banksy imitation up to intimidate car thieves, and a local “street” artist called The Dark decided to go over it. Not because he supports car theft obviously - here’s a brief explanation he provided:
”The Vancouver Police Department has been using graffiti inspired stencils in a fear-mongering campaign against car theft. Given the aggressive graffiti paint out program run by the City and the VPD it seemed like a bit of a contradiction to use “crime” (graffiti) to fight crime. The only thing left was to follow their outstanding example.” - The Dark

Big thanks to Jenn Chang for the heads up on this story!
Stay tuned, more info coming soon.
“King Magazine recently selected Naledge (of KITH) to write 16 Bars on a subject they picked at random (obviously judging by the title you can see where they wanted him to go), in which they would then publish his lyrics. Kidz In The Hall took it a bit further than the norm, however, and recorded a new track for it.
With that said, here is the world premier of Kidz In The Hall’s “Sweet 16″ (All My Ladies).
They recorded a “Making Of” for the track as well. It’s a large file, but anyone interested in checking it out can download the clip here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jwgc37

Buckshot, 9th Wonder and Talib Kweli recently shot a music video for a track from Buck and 9th’s upcoming album, ‘The Formula.’ We’ll have that video for you as soon as it leaks, but for now, click here for some photos from the shoot.
Also, Duck Down Records is continuing to make moves and recently signed DJ Revolution and the legendary KRS-ONE. There are plans for KRS and Buckshot to do an album together so be on the look out for it. Click here for the full press release that Richie over at ‘Pffwhatever’ posted.
So apparently this girl is looking to take Amy Winehouse’s place when she overdoses or whatever. Hopefully not, because anyone that gets too inebriated to perform on stage (as Winehouse has done on a few occasions) is cool in my books. Either way though, there’s room for both of them and Adele can seriously sing - plus she has the whole “no last name” thing going for her. Look out for the US/Canada release of her debut album, ‘19,’ on March 5th.
Below is the original version and a remix of Adele’s single, ‘Hometown Glory’ and the original version plus a remix of Sia’s single, ‘Breathe Me.’ They don’t have anything to do with each other but if you like one you’ll probably like the other. In which case, feel free to stick them all in a playlist together, put them on repeat, and cry yourself to sleep.
P.S. I’m not feeling that ‘Chasing Pavements’ song by Adele so it’s not on here. Google it if you’re curious.

I’m late on this by a few days and usually try to post only brand new or original content but I’ll make an exception here. The main reason being that one of the best tracks on this album features Del The Funky Homosapien so I’m using this as a chance to plug the interview we did with him (view it here) which you may have missed. Another is the fact that these are actually quality remixes and simply deserve as much exposure as possible. Pay a visit to Amplive’s myspace for more.
Here’s some stuff fresh out of the tier zero inbox and straight from Chicago, mang. The [Chicago] Movement at DoNotFollow.com has more where that came from too so check it out. Call it your one stop shop for all things Chi-city.

Seeing as I haven’t had a day off at work in weeks and won’t for a while, the only thing I have time to post right now is music. Here’s a random selection of tracks I’ve received lately, including a bunch of new shit by Duck Down Records artists, a Fam-Lay remix, a track by a lesser known dude named Theo, and for those getting tired of the lack of variety, an M.I.A. remix. [Edit:] I also added a classic Masta Ace track from 1995 that you need to hear, if you haven’t already.
