Seeing as a homie of ours (by association) from Seattle is one of the finalists for this, and not many people even know beat battles exist, I figured i’d shed a little light…
Click on the flyer below to view the rest of its content:

“Big Tune is a program that was created to showcase the musical talents of emerging as well as established producers…the producers battle head to head through rounds of single elimination competition.
The last producer standing will be the producer with the…”Big Tune”…and crowned champion of the evening.” - www.redbullbigtime.com
This is a huge event and De La Soul is going to be performing, so if you’re in Seattle tomorrow, go check it out.
Oh, and make some noise when the aforementioned DJ Sabzi (of the seattle-based hip hop group, Blue Scholars) hits the stage. He’s reppin’ Seattle for y’all, so show some love. http://www.rawkus.com/bluescholars

The homie Phillip over at Freemotion Hip Hop just brought his blog back to life, making their first post since July, and making it a good one.
Click on their logo above to check it out: a bunch of his latest remixes/mash-ups (e.g. STUNTIN’x1979, YOUNG FOLKSxMAKE IT RAIN, etc.) were posted, along with a couple other remixes by some other Oklahomians. I wouldn’t be linking to these if I didn’t think they were hot as fu*k, by the way, so do yourself a favour and download them.

Oh, and we’re not tryin’ to pawn someone else’s blog post off as our own here! But I do admit this is a blatant display of laziness and lack of creativity on my part (and trust, I won’t make a habit of this) but can you blame me? It’s been raining for the last 5 days! … Now go listen to that sh*t.

I could write something really in-depth here or compile some kind of comprehensive list of local photographers, but in the end aren’t you really just here to be (instantly) entertained? Enter Jordan Todd, Kathy Isyourfriend.com, Doug Haddow..and Mark The Cobrasnake. Pictures tend to speak for themselves.

Canada’s sneaker giant is doing big things these days. Case and point: their groundbreaking Strange Brew collaboration with Nike SB. If you ask us, these things are clean as f*ck… and if Canada exists in shoe form, this is it! Matt George has also eluded to the fact that there’s more where these came from, so keep your eyes peeled.
Click on the image below for more information:
In other (goodfoot related) news, the Vancouver location just received a shipment from back east of some previous Nike SB summer releases. I’m not sure when they’ll hit the floor, and most of them are barely noteworthy, but they did receive a full size-run of the Dunk SB “Purple Pigeon”:

Feel like making your pair stand out a bit? Grab a set of actual pigeon patches to stick to the heel panel - designed, produced and distributed by Zahirjooma. Click Here to visit his E-bay store and see what I’m talking about.

Thom Yorke and company are finally putting out a new album, and their sales pitch is as innovative as their music has been. Apparently, you can pay whatever you want for it. Okay, maybe it’s been done before(?)… but this time it’s Radiohead!
“Innovative rock band Radiohead has stunned the music world by announcing that its forthcoming album will make its debut as a digital download available for whatever individual consumers want to pay for it.”

A few months ago, when I invited a random graffiti writer from San Francisco to sleep on my floor, it took a few days before I realized he was the tour manager for, none other than, Del tha Funkee Homosapien. The result, besides me accidentally messing up his external harddrive (sorry, bro!), was this interview:
- J. Beso

By Douglas Haddow: (Originally published by The Aesthetic Poetic - Slight modifications by J. Beso in this version.)
“Next to Arctic crab fishing, Hip-Hop is probably the most difficult industry to stay afloat in. All the cutthroat competition, government pressure, fickle consumers, corporate greed and street-level violence make it easy for successful rappers to easily drop into obscurity. Not many artists are able to last longer than a decade, but bay-area lyricism magnate Del tha Funkee Homosapien has managed to stay in the game for 16 years now, a feat that has seen him outlast numerous pop fads from grunge to grime and everything in between. I hooked up with him prior to his show at Richards on Richards and we spent an hour chatting it up and smoking Beedis in his hotel room.”
